Sensational glam metal and rock/power pop artists Poison and Cheap Trick are bringing their signature sounds to the PNC Bank Arts Center!
Poison was formed in Mechanicsburg (Pennsylvania) in 1980 by lead vocalist Bret Michaels, guitarist Matt Smith, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rocket. Their musical style is best described as a blend of hard rock (a loosely defined subgenre of rock music featuring heavy use of aggressive vocals, distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, and often accompanied with pianos and keyboards), heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), and glam metal (a genre – also known as hair metal - that blends heavy metal and hard rock, adding blues and catchy pop influenced hooks and guitar riffs, while borrowing from the fashion of 1970s glam rock). The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Bret (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Rikki (drums, percussion, and vocals), Bobby (bass guitar and backing vocals), C.C. DeVille (lead guitar and vocals), and touring member Will Doughty (keyboards and backing vocals). They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 4 live albums, 7 compilation albums, 10 video albums, 21 music videos, 28 singles, and 2 box sets.
